Kitchen & Bathroom Stone Trends *update* !

We love keeping up with the latest trends in kitchens and bathrooms. In fact, when we work with our clients to list their homes for sale, kitchens, and powder rooms are often the topic of conversation. But, when we talk about updating kitchens, bathrooms, and powder rooms, there’s often one big element that joins the conversation. Stone! Especially the latest in stone trends. Keeping up with the latest trends will allow your home to stand out to potential buyers. Especially the ones who are hoping to buy a modern home without too much heavy lifting to make it their dream home. These two areas of your home, in particular, make the biggest impact with those buyers. So, a quick facelift to your stone countertops or sinks truly makes all the difference. With that said, we wanted to take this opportunity to discuss the latest in stone trends for 2023, 2024, and beyond!

Nature Stones are Taking Over

Naturally occurring stones such as marble and quartzite are taking over kitchens, bathrooms, and powder rooms right now! These gorgeous stones come in a variety of colors and add depth, and just enough character to a home to make your potential buyers look twice. In addition to their eye-catching look, both marble and quartzite are easy to clean and maintain. All it takes is a little (non-abrasive) soap and some warm water to get your countertops looking brand new! Are you curious to know how some of our clients are using these stones to their advantage? Stones with veins, color, and fun patterns are the latest trends!

Watch Out Grey, Color is Moving In!

Remember the gray-and-white trend showcased in the interior of homes in recent years? What started off as a clean, minimalistic approach to “sprucing” up your home before listing it for sale, quickly became par for the course, and eventually, a trend that everyone was over. Buyers and current homeowners are no longer afraid of using color and we are seeing less and less grey and white in the last handful of years. Now, homeowners are finding a balance between that cool and modern approach to gray and white; but with an added balance of complementary color in the mix!

Leathered Stone vs. Smooth & Shiny

Have you ever seen leathered stone? Our friends over at Calia Stone offer this gorgeous textured stone and it is truly amazing! If you’re ready to work with stone to update or refresh your home before listing it for sale, there are two "go-to" finishes to choose from. Leathered (with a textured finish) or smooth and shiny. Smooth and shiny will always be a popular on-trend choice but we love the enhanced look of working with leathered stone. In all honesty, you really can’t go wrong with either! The choice you make will depend on what you are looking for in the moment. Is it functionality, aesthetics, easy to clean, or best for your budget? There is a huge difference between the look and general maintenance of choosing textured stone versus shiny stone, and often something we advise our clients on. So, if you’re getting ready to list your home for sale and you find that your kitchen, bathrooms or powder rooms couple use a good sprucing before hand, you can you can reach out to us here and we will work with you closely to select the stone that fits your specific needs.

What Do New Stone Trends Mean for Your Cabinets?

You might be wondering what a change in stone for your kitchen countertops means for your cabinets! Cabinets can be a costly expense, and if you are getting ready to list your home, chances are the cabinets will be left "as is" while the stone gets an update. The best way to leave the cabinets while enhancing the look of your kitchen with the latest in stone trends is to go for high contrast, creating a wow factor! Solid color cabinets with a contrasted color stone (think white cabinets with black stone!) will elevate the look of your kitchen to give it that pow, drawing in potential buyers!
